Get Involved with NSLCHFH this Summer!

It may be hard to believe, with snow on the ground and the crisp winter air still biting our noses, but we are already preparing for the upcoming build season at North St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity. This year we will be building five homes in three communities. The Hibbing and Virginia community will be welcoming two homes each and Aurora will be welcoming one home.

As we begin to set our building schedule we look to our faith partners to again help us build homes and hope in our communities. You are an integral part of NSLCHFH’s building ministry on the Iron Range. Not only have you strengthened the affiliate with your prayers, but you have also contributed so much time, effort and money.
There are many ways to get involved with Habitat’s mission. The first, and perhaps most obvious way, is to organize a day to volunteer on a build site. You can volunteer yourself or work to organize a group of 6-12 people comprised of family or friends from church, to build for a day.

You may be thinking that swinging a hammer just is not the way you want to serve with Habitat. If that is the case there are many other things you can do to support Habitat’s mission. One way to do this is to supply a meal to volunteers on a build site. Volunteers definitely work hard on build sites and a meal is always a welcomed reenergizer!

Another way that you can help Habitat is volunteering to help ready mailings such as the quarterly newsletter sent out by the Habitat office. It takes many dedicated volunteers to fold and secure the newsletter to be mailed. There is also other office work available to do such as running copies, writing articles for the Faith Partner Press, or volunteering on other Habitat committees. Currently the church relations committee is looking for volunteers to join the great work they are doing for the affiliate.

So where do you go from here? The next step is to call Megan at the NSLCHFH office at 866.749.8910 to set up a build day or to find out about other opportunities to volunteer. All of the support you have provided our affiliate in the past is so appreciated and we all look forward to your continued support this upcoming build season!
