As Deniese has said, "Home is where your heart is." Habitat understands that, for many families, the heart of the home is in the kitchen.
Habitat for Humanity has collected hundreds of recipes from Habitat affiliates all over the world, available in three great cookbooks. We thought we'd share a delicious recipe from these cookbooks each week. Try them out and let us know what you think! Hmong Egg Rolls

Yield: 20 servings


8 ounces bean thread noodles
2 pounds ground pork
2 carrots, grated
1 cup grated cabbage
1 large white onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 potatoes, grated
2 cloves of garlic, grated
2 teaspoons fish sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 eggs
10 egg roll wrappers
Oil for deep frying



  • Soak bean thread noodles in a small amount of warm water until tender. Cut into small pieces. Combine with pork, carrots, cabbage, onion, mushrooms, potatoes, garlic, fish sauce, salt and pepper; mix well. Reserve 1 egg yolk. Stir remaining eggs into pork mixture. Spoon mixture evenly in center of egg roll wrappers. Roll up, sealing ends ith reserved egg yolk. Deep-fry in hot oil until golden brown; drain.
