Partners in the Kitchen

As Deniese has said, "Home is where your heart is." Habitat understands that, for many families, the heart of the home is in the kitchen.

Habitat for Humanity has collected hundreds of recipes from Habitat affiliates all over the world, available in three great cookbooks. We thought we'd share a delicious recipe from these cookbooks each week. Try them out and let us know what you think! Maple-Walnut Pie     

Yield: 6 servings

4 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1 cup walnut pieces
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell


  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine eggs, brown sugar, maple syrup, salt and milk in bowl; mix well. Stir in walnuts. Pour into pie shell. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
